St. Luke supports missions work in our local community and around the world.
We support the Presbyterian Church's One Great Hour of Sharing, Peace Offering and the Christmas Joy Offering. We have made group and individual donations to PCUSA's disaster relief fund helping with the New Orleans, Haiti, and Japan disasters.
We completed a three-phase committment to sponsor an African Village in Pigu, Ghana through World Vision International. Our support led to the development/building of a fresh water well, a school and a health clinic.
Our families provide monthly meals to Mill Street Center, a local shelter that is apart of Homeward Bound of Marin; the first Monday of every month, meal providers bring meals to Mill Street's 60 men and women residents. Additionally, our Deacons and Women's Association have also provided monetary assistance in purchasing a new stove for the facility as well as a yearly donation for Christmas gifts.
The Deacons support in-church causes like: our Cooking Community that prepares healthy and delicious meals for those who are sick or are in need; the Prayer Blanket Ministry which is a group of women knitting blankets that are distributed across the U.S. to people undergoing cancer treatment or suffering from serious illness; food collection for the San Francisco Food Bank; and, aid to our adopted Compassion International child, Nosuvuko.
Members and friends use the pew's green offering envelopes to donate to our Deacons fund. In 2010-2011 the Deacons fund was used to support various local and global organizations ministering to those in need including:
